While walking the halls of Bower Place, I noticed Tommy Gun’s Original Barbershop was running a promotion for haircuts and hot shaves. I decided to try a hotshave for the first time, and let me tell you, this is something you need to try today.
The entire experience felt like meditation. With a hot towel placed on your face to open up your pores, the soft creams used, and the face massage all helped to create a relaxing experience. After placing the hot towel, they will massage oils on your face to further help your skin. After the massage and another hot towel, the shaving foam is then applied. It was so relaxing, at one point, I had fallen asleep.
I’ve never had such a close shave in my life, as someone who regularly has facial hair, I looked three years younger after getting a hot shave. The process got rid of dead skin while not causing any irritation on my face. The scent-free aftershave refreshed and rejuvenated the skin. I’ve never seen my skin look so good after my visit!

For me, the conversation with my barber was interesting enough to fully enjoy my experience at Tommy Gun’s at Bower Place.
I’m not going to lie, at first, the thought of a stranger using a straight razor on my face, especially around my neck area, was a scary thought. However, my barber discussed the entire process in detail, and explained her years of experience and indepth knowledge. Certain areas like the Adam’s Apple, they do not shave over, but rather move the skin in a certain way to comfortably ensure a clean shave.
An extra bonus of Tommy Gun’s is that it is locally owned and operated by Red Deer residents! They also have a ton of extra shaving materials for you to purchase. I could refill my razors for my safety razor, and buy other extra high quality products that you’d need on your way out.
