Tattoo Care 101

I love art in all forms; you step into my apartment and there isn’t an inch of the walls that isn’t covered in paintings, photos, or decorative artisan pieces. And that artistic love flows into all things, food, music, books . . . In any form, I love getting creative and being inspired! I also long to extend that love of art on to all mediums, including permanent ones! Yes, ladies and gentlemen, I’m talking about tattoos. I have adored the art of tattoos for many years and had wanted one for as long as I can remember. I finally worked up the courage to get my first one while I was a university student and have gotten several more since.

And since I take great pride in my permanent artwork, I also take care of them quite respectfully. Just like I use products with the best ingredients for my face and body, I have always made sure that I use the best products to take care of my new tattoos. So, whenever I get fresh ink, I hop into the Lush at Bower Place to pick up my essentials: Ultrabalm and Elbow Grease. It’s not just their hip names that make these products incredible, it’s their lovely ingredients:

Untrabalm is an all-purpose lotion with only three ingredients. No joke. That’s it. No perfumes or sulphates, this balm is PERFECT to keep your fresh ink moisturised without irritating the sensitive skin.

Elbow Grease is a hardworking balm for dry, tight or flakey skin, but it’s especially fab for keeping tattoos vibrant! So smooth it over your healed ink to make those colors and details pop!

As well, don’t forget to follow all the instructions your tattoo artist gave you . . . At the end of the day, they are the experts!
