Spring is on its way, and I’m absolutely ITCHING for all the goodness that comes with it, like drinks on patios, putting my parkas in storage, and Spring fashion! Here are some trends blooming that I’ve picked for you.
Light wash, distressed, looser denim is IN right now, and your perfect pair is probably a stone’s throw away from wherever you are standing in Bower Place. Here are my top picks, starting with these Silver overalls. Perfection! Next . . . I’m a sucker for Levi’s, so naturally, I love Hudson’s Bay’s selection, and these High-Rise Straight Jeans are so cute for a casual look. Saddle up and head over to AEO – they have a great selection of denim right now, especially of the distressed variety. The Crossover Mom Jeans add a bit of interest to a basic pair of jeans. Lastly, I love the Ribcage jeans from Levi’s and own a pair myself. They are ultra-high waisted, and the ankle length makes them perfect for showing off your favourite pair of boots.
What can I say – florals and Spring go together like PB&J. Check out the adorable Spring dresses in the MINKPINK section at Hudson’s Bay, and don’t miss this midi dress while you’re there. Honourable mention: I’m always a sucker for the 60s/70s vibes, and these mod lounge pants from Ardene immediately caught my eye.
Sage is one of my all-time fave colours, and lucky for me, I’ve been seeing this colour pop up everywhere. Whether it’s on a dress, on a sweater vest (which are HOT right now), or a shacket . . . I’m all for it! So, welcome a fresh season with a fresh colour like this.
I always love a bold sweater and recently found lots of them around The Great Indoors, since we are still in the thick of sweater weather. Have some fun with your sweaters with a fun pattern, bold colour, or a combination of both. Another honourable mention: This Confetti Knit cardi gives me retro vibes, and I love how whimsical it is.
Layered necklaces are very trendy right now. So, stack some of the below, or wear ‘em on their own! To start, I love this Snake Chain from Joydrop. I’d pair it with the gold Big Spender necklace below or wear it on its own. Hillberg & Berk nailed the chain trend with the Emily Paper Clip necklace, plus — this pretty rose gold style comes in earring form. If you’re a silver jewellery gal, don’t miss this Curb Chain from Michael Hill.
p.s.: Check out this Buzzfeed quiz if you want to know what colour of jewellery suits you the best! I’m a silver (but that doesn’t stop me from rocking gold jewellery on the daily).
Sneakers and belt bags are cool AND convenient. These practical trends are a blessing for busy people on the go (i.e., probably you!). First, Sorel doesn’t just make boots! Check out these cool Kinetic sneakers from Boathouse, and pair them with some jeans to keep it casual and cool. Next, I’m loving the pastel/Spring/Easter vibes from these 237s from New Balance and Converse Chuck Taylors. The adorable floral details on the bottom of the Chuck Taylors are so cute; imagine them with the light-wash distressed denim from above! Lastly, I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again – get yourself a belt bag! They are so convenient for all those errands you run where you need your hands free.
Maia is a classic Central Albertan gal who KNOWS her way around Bower Place . . . she grew up exploring it! If she’s not scouting the best of The Great Indoors, she’s probably strapping on her hiking pack to escape to the mountains or grabbing her cowboy boots (she’ll never say “no” to a rodeo). She has a love of free-spirited 70s vibes including eclectic accessories, bright colours, and fun patterns.
