The 94th Academy Awards are happening on Sunday, March 27! First thing’s first: checking out the Best Picture nominees list to add to my “must-watch movie list” and cheering on some of my favourite actresses, including Jessica Chastain and Nicole Kidman. I’m also excited to see the gorgeous gowns of Hollywood’s royalty during the event!
I’ll be on my own “best dressed” list as I strut down my metaphorical red carpet (i.e.: the route to my fridge for snacks). I can picture the commentators now: “For her hair, she went with a flawlessly-executed messy bun tied up with a scrunchie. Makeup was on the natural side, post-skincare routine, complemented by undereye patches from Sephora.” But what will they say about what I’m wearing (the most important detail)?! Rest assured, comfy and cozy pieces will be on the menu!
Don’t forget to break out the snacks and your favourite bottle of rosé because this will be a night to remember!
I am almost ALWAYS cold, and I love to stay cozy while watching Netflix. Enter: the coziest cardigans I can possibly find. I love Ardene’s chenille pyjama sets, available in beige and brown. Be sure to grab the flare pants, drawstring shorts, and crop tank top to go with your cardigan.
Remember when I said sage is a trendy colour right now? I wasn’t kidding! Why not incorporate this beautiful, calming colour into your pyjama collection too? Lastly, I love H&M for a good cardigan, and they usually have such a great selection of fun colours, and I own the pink version of this one.
The revival of the slip dress in recent years makes me reminisce on the iconic slip dress Gwyneth Paltrow wore to the Oscars in 1996; check out more iconic examples on Vogue France. You can emulate the same 90s-chic look at home, thanks to H&M.
Next, gorgeous sage makes an appearance once again with this adorable ribbed knit nightie from la Vie en Rose (also available in pink). Lastly, you could throw a long-sleeve cotton shirt under this floral cami from Ardene, or add on a plush robe if you want another layer.
Satin patterned pyjama sets are like the haute couture of the fashion world. If you wear these, you’re probably a fabulous fashionista who believes in weekly manis and blowouts. I see you, glam goddess, and I have just the jammies for you.
I love the iconic colour pattern of Hudson’s Bay integrated into this gingham sleep set, and it even comes with a matching scrunchie! Next, I fell in love with this cherry patterned sleep set from H&M. You’ll be the star of the metaphorical show in these adorable pyjamas. Lastly, manifest Summer in these la Vie en Rose pyjamas, which have the cutest little dragonflies on them.
Psssst! If you prefer cotton pyjamas, la Vie en Rose is having their “Dream in cotton” event where you can get two free when you buy one. Check out their website for more info.
No Oscars outfit would be complete without the perfect shoe. You can’t have a side-slit gown without a gorgeous stiletto to go with it; and so . . . you can’t have a fabulous nightgown without a cozy slipper to go with it, either.
Ugg slippers are a must-have in your slipper collection. Imagine the coziness of the original boot, but in slipper form, to wear around the house! On that note, check out Ardene for some comfy, affordable slippers! I love a good mule. Mix in another of my favourite trends (sherpa), and we’re in business! p.s.: How incredibly COZY do these Knit On Slippers look?!
So, as you cozy up to watch an evening of glitz and glamour, rest assured you will feel JUST as fabulous while watching from home.
Maia is a classic Central Albertan gal who KNOWS her way around Bower Place . . . she grew up exploring it! If she’s not scouting the best of The Great Indoors, she’s probably strapping on her hiking pack to escape to the mountains or grabbing her cowboy boots (she’ll never say “no” to a rodeo). She has a love of free-spirited 70s vibes including eclectic accessories, bright colours, and fun patterns.
