A Feast for the Eyes

Every two years, I go in for my routine eye exam at Bower Place Eye Care and relish that opportunity to find a new pair of glasses that suit me. From thick, cat eye frames, to the modern clear ones (Ray-Ban is usually my go-to; a timeless classic), I can appreciate a bold pair of frames! So, what frame trends do you need to open up your eyes to? Let me show you!

Live Big

I asked our friends in Consumer’s Optical (conveniently located beside the Bower Place Eye Centre) what’s trendy right now with glasses, and “big” was the first answer I got. After browsing their amazing selection of Jimmy Choo, Chloe, Tiffany & Co., (and more) oversized frames – I was not disappointed.

Here are a few frames that embody the “bigger is better” spirit.

Don’t miss the “v” cutout in these Valentino frames – I love it when a bit of interest is added to temples (even though these frames have plenty of interest!).

These square Ray-Bans are the perfect blend of retro and modern/trendy. Find them in gold, too!

These oversized Prada frames are so much fun, and I’m loving the geometric temples and pretty blue shade of them.

Pedal to the Metal

After some browsing, I noticed (and fell in love with) a ton of metal wire frame styles within Consumer’s Optical (many of which combined the previous “big” trend, too!).

Here are a few from Lenscrafters that I hope you will love.

I love the minimalist feel of these Ray-Bans. Though round glasses don’t really suit my face shape, I know they would look stunning on oval faces.

Aviator styles are popping up on my trend radar, and it’s clear to “see” why (pun intended). I love how these Michael Kors Montreal frames have the style of an aviator but the flattering shape of a cat eye, all packaged in a pretty wire frame.

If you fancy a more delicate, feminine shape, I love these rose gold Tiffany frames from Lenscrafters. They’re also available in Silver and Pale Gold!

These sassy Cat Eye frames are modern, edgy, and pure fabulousness. I loooove the thin gold temples that give it the classic luxurious D&G feel, while still being uber-trendy.

Not only are these Vogue glasses very reasonably priced, they are so much fun. You’ll be looking at life through rose-coloured glasses with these frames.

I am LOVING the gradient pattern on these transparent Coach frames. They provide the most subtle splash of colour and are the perfect accessory with any outfit. You can get them in a pretty violet shade as well.

Shine Bright

Even though it’s Winter, the sun is still out, and your eyes still deserve protection from harmful rays! Sunglass Hut should be your first stop for gorgeous designer sunnies.

I love the geometric temples on these Prada shades, plus the shape flatters a variety of face shapes such as oval, square, round, and heart. They also come in white which is suuuuper chic!

The oversize trend doesn’t end with frames – grab yourself a pair of sunnies this year like these Gucci shades. The temples are so retro – I’m in love!

Perhaps looking for something a bit more conservative, yet still trendy and flattering? Look no further than these gorgeous Ray-Bans also found at Sunglass Hut. These uber-chic Ray-Bans are giving me 60’s vibes. You’ll feel like a modern-day Audrey Hepburn.
