Chill Out

Date: December 31, 2021

This recent polar vortex/record-breaking cold snap may have left your skin scaly and your hair frizzy, in need of some serious TLC. Chill out – you can find refuge in The Great Indoors with these moisturizers.

Face

First, Celestial from Lush is a face cream built for sensitive, dry skin. It has cocoa butter (which is fair trade and organic), vanilla water, almond milk, and fresh dove orchid. Sign me up!

Just because it’s Winter doesn’t mean you shouldn’t slather on that SPF! This Clinique Repairwear Laser Focus SPF 15 helps strengthen and plump skin and is great for very dry to dry combination skin.

Marcelle’s Multi-Defence Cream SPF 15 from Shoppers Drug Mart is very reasonably priced (don’t forget that PC Optimum card!). It is formulated to stimulate cellular regeneration (science and skincare go together like PB & J). It has vitamins A and E and is ideal for combination to oily skin.

Body

Dry, distressed skin – meet your match. The Ultra Repair Cream from Sephora is a fast-absorbing moisturizer with a heavy cream formulation.

Generously apply this pretty-in-pink Herbal Body Moisturizer from Chatters, enriched with 100% Pure Natural Hemp Seed Oil.

I don’t know about you, but this near-arctic weather has me needing a vacay. Well, the scent of this Coconut Body Butter from The Body Shop will transport your senses to a tropical paradise. It helps soften and hydrate dry skin using Community Fair Trade shea butter from Ghana, and even locks in moisture for 72 (!!!) hours!

Hair

I loooove the Morrocanoil Treatment – it smells so yummy and leaves hair soft and silky. This Argan Oil serum will leave your strands beautifully conditioned. Simply apply to towel-dried hair (avoiding the roots) and let air dry . . . or slather it on before you blow-dry.

The Revive Hair Moisturizer from Lush is a leave-in hydrator formulated for curls and much more, featuring avocado butter. It’s self-described as “ultra-hydrating” with a scent that will help you “feel alive and ready to thrive”. That’s definitely the kind of energy I want to bring into 2022.

The No. 7 Bonding Oil from Sephora is an ultra-lightweight styling oil great for a variety of hair types and textures. But it’s not just a pretty face. Not only does it increase shine and hydrate, but it also provides heat protection up to 450° F.
