Winter Skin Blues
Products your skin will love during these endless winter months
As much as I hate to admit it, winter in Central Alberta seems to last FOREVER. One thing that takes the biggest tole during these endless cold fronts and blizzards is my skin. Usually my face is pretty normal and easy to deal with, but once the temperatures start dropping it’s goodbye smooth, glowing skin and hello endless dryness, breakouts, and dullness. But that’s nothing a thorough regimen can’t fix! Just like the perfect coat will keep your body ready for the winter weather, a proper in season skin-care routine is a worthy investment. The right stuff will keep your face protected from unpredictable climate changes and keep your skin healthy and happy. Recently I dropped into Sephora for their expert recommendations on some must have products for all your winter skin needs.
Fresh Soy Face Cleanser: This gel face wash has a cult following for the way it gently removes everyday dirt and makeup—yes . . . even mascara!—without drying the skin. With amino acid-rich soy proteins, soothing cucumber extract, and balancing rosewater, it tones, soothes, and softens for a radiant, healthy-looking complexion.
Dr. Dennis Gross Alpha Beta Universal Daily Peel: You can trust the Doctor with these pre-soaked pads that can be used for a daily face peel to make your skin more radiant, balances tone and texture, diminishes fine lines and wrinkles and reduces enlarged pores.
Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Cream: A classic in skin care, this light-weight moisturizer will provide 24-hour hydration while addressing skins dryness, dullness and uneven texture. It’s ultra lightweight so it will absorbe into your skin easily for healthier, more fabulous looking skin.
Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery Concentrate: The perfect way to conclude your evening skin care regime, this nighttime oil will hydrate and visibly restore skin while you sleep. A blend of oils including lavender, evening primrose, and squalene will deliver essential hydration and promote a softer, smoother, brighter complexion.
OLEHENRIKSEN Truth Serum: During these grey winter days, we could all do with a little more Vitamin C, and that’s exactly what you will get from this powerful serum. Formulated with vitamin C and collagen for brightening and all-day hydration, you will find your skin energized and beaming!
First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair Hydrating Serum: Formulated for all skin types, Ultra Repair Hydrating Serum instantly infuses skin with essential hydration to help plump and minimize the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Its lightweight texture makes it perfect for layering under your favorite AM and PM moisturizers.
GLAMGLOW THIRSTYMUD Hydrating Treatment: On the days where you just want to stay inside, treat yourself (and your skin!) to this highly raved about face mask: It moisturizes, restores, replenishes, and calms the skin, while hyaluronic acid helps deeply hydrate skin for a dewy, glowing complexion.
If skin care is not your forte, stop into Sephora inside Bower Place for their expert skin care advice; they will help you find your ideal products for your skin type and skin care routine. While you are at it, why not book yourself in for a full-face makeover! You deserve it, girl.
